To Use the Table:
- Step 1: Select the line under the column headed “Door Height in feet” corresponding to the door selected.
- Step 2: Determine the lintel loads on the selected line under the appropriate columns.
- Step 3: Multiply the values shown by the door opening width in feet plus two feet (Addition two feet is the normal overlap) to determine the lintel loads (Horizontal and Vertical). These figures are the live loads uniformly distributed along the lintel where the curtain is attached. The resulting calculations are the live lintel loads both vertical and horizontal except as noted below.
Note:
The calculated figures in step 3 are the extra load factors to be used in addition to the static and live loads of the building itself.
These figures are based on standard installation instructions and could be higher on non-standard installation or unusual building conditions.

The above figures are approximate and are only to be used as a guide. These figures are based on the assumption that the door opening is ready, the guide rails are installed, and no supports or obstructions are in the way for completing the installation of the door.
Electricity is already installed to a disconnect box at the drive end of the door.
In most installations a welder and electrician are needed for a short time, otherwise, local labor conditions prevail. Installation is made easy with the use of the “Installation & Operating Instructions” manual.
In cases where one or more doors are installed at an installation, the above times can be cut considerably.
Note:
The above hours do not include the installation of the optional Side Door Seals. Please add 24 hours to the above figures when these optional Side Door Seals are used.

Lubrication
- The roller chains on the drive units should be periodically lubricated with a roller chain lubricant.
- For motor lubrication, refer to motor manufacturer’s recommendations. See the tag attached to the motors.
- The oil in all gearboxes should be changed once a year, and in severe operating conditions, more frequently. Use Para-Port Door Part No. 14090090 oil or Mobil #SHC 634. While the oil is drained from the larger gearbox, remove the inspection plate opposite the final output shaft and inspect the gears for cracks, missing teeth and excessive wear.
- The cam roller bearings that ride on the guide rails and the main shaft support bearings that are at the ends of tube, should be greased at least every six (6) months.
- The pulleys on the counterweight system, the hinges and toggles on the inside door seals, and the pins and rollers in the portable hold-downs and outside bump rolls, should be lubricated periodically.
- On the doors using counterweights; the counterweight cables should be greased with a light coating at least every six (6) months.
Maintenance
- It is recommended that after the door has been in use for a short time, that all nuts and bolts, retainer clips, set screws, etc., be checked and tightened if necessary.
- The drive chains on the carriage should be properly adjusted at all times.
- Adjustments on hold-downs should be checked frequently to assure that the tube is held to the rubber sill as tight as possible.
- The curtain material can be kept clean by using water and a mild detergent along with a soft brush or sponge.
- All minor cuts and punctures in the curtain material should be patched immediately with Patch Kit No. 24090004 that was furnished with the door.
- If cuts or punctures exceed two feet horizontally, consult the factory.
Periodic Inspection
It is recommended that a yearly inspection program be set up with your maintenance crew for the inspection of your door and its components.
After any unusual conditions that the door is exposed to, such as severe winds, storms, etc., a thorough inspection should be made before attempting to operate the door.
Some of the major components are:
- Drive Chains (Should be replaced every 5 years.)
- Sprockets
- Gearboxes - While the oil is drained from the larger gearbox, remove the inspection plate opposite the final output shaft and inspect the gears for cracks, missing teeth and excessive wear.
- Keys on Shafts
- Cam Rollers
- Motor Couplings
- Brakes on Motors
- Counterweight Cables
- Counterweight Pulleys and Brackets
- Curtain (Check for deterioration.)
- Tube
- Guide Rails
- Other Structural Components
CAUTION - When any signs of wear or distortion on any of the components appear, it is recommended that they be replaced immediately.
Warranty
Except for the flexible curtain and except as warranted by manufacturers of accessories and parts, the Company warrants that the products sold hereunder, including all accessories and parts supplied by Company, will conform in all material respects to the description of the products contained in the Quote, the blueprints and drawings and that the products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one (1) year (or for such longer period of time as is specified herein or in the Quote with respect to any particular product) from the date of shipment (the “Warranty Period”). Company warrants the flexible curtain for a period of five years under normal use and service, its obligation as to the flexible curtain being limited to replacing said curtain, FOB Fostoria, Ohio, at a cost to Customer equal to Company’s quoted price at time of replacement less 1/60th of said quoted price for each full month remaining of the five year warranty period.
THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THESE WARRANTIES AND THE COMPANY EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, OR ARISING BY OPERATION OF LAW, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
